🏋️ Adaptive Exercise Group

🧩 The Challenge

Adaptive Exercise Group (AEG) is a unique brand committed to inclusivity in fitness — focusing on people who are often underserved in traditional gym environments: individuals with mobility issues, neurological conditions, or age-related limitations.

However, their previous online presence didn’t reflect the essence of their mission. The challenges included:

  • A dated and inaccessible site layout

  • Lack of clear content structure to represent adaptive services

  • Minimal emphasis on trust-building elements like testimonials or certifications

  • Absence of mobile optimization, despite most clients visiting via smartphones

  • No clear user funnel for scheduling or understanding services

The goal:

  • Create an Inclusive Design
Build a layout that’s WCAG-compliant, simple to navigate, and welcoming to users with visual or cognitive impairments.

Showcase adaptive training programs, one-on-one sessions, and virtual offerings in a clear and digestible format.

  • Establish Trust & Expertise
Feature credentials, client testimonials, and highlight the founder’s experience with adaptive fitness.

  • Enable Conversion
Add clear CTAs for consultations, membership, and contact — especially for caregivers booking on behalf of loved ones.

🛠️ What We Did

âś… Strategy & Wireframing

We began with empathy mapping and understanding the unique emotional and practical needs of the audience. Then, low-fidelity wireframes were created to test intuitive flows and accessibility.

âś… WordPress Development

Built on a lightweight custom WordPress theme optimized for accessibility (ARIA labels, contrast ratios, alt-tag optimization, etc.)

I conducted user research and usability mapping to uncover how motorsport fans consume content online. The focus was on optimizing flow, speed, and engagement—ensuring the platform meets the expectations of an audience fueled by adrenaline and real-time updates.

âś… Accessibility First UX Design

  • Home (featured visuals + event announcements)
  • Portfolio (interactive galleries by category)
  • Case Study Pages (detailed storytelling for each project)
  • About & Contact (credentials + social links)

âś… Service Architecture

We broke services into digestible sections:

  • In-Person Adaptive Training

  • Virtual Coaching

  • Special Needs Support Programs
Each with icons, explanations, and FAQs tailored to caregivers and clients alike.

âś… Accessibility First UX Design

  • Font sizes made scalable

  • High contrast color palette for visibility

  • Clear “skip to content” navigation

  • Mobile-first layout with minimal distractions

  • Integrated screen-reader compatibility

âś… Trust Builders

  • Real client video testimonials

  • Certification badges for adaptive fitness and neurodiverse training

  • Dedicated “Meet the Trainer” bio with experience in therapy and rehab

âś… Trust Builders

  • Integrated Calendly for easy appointment scheduling

  • WhatsApp floating chat icon

  • Click-to-call and map for mobile users

  • Newsletter opt-in for fitness tips

📍 Final Thoughts

AEG wasn’t just another fitness website — it was a mission. Designing for accessibility isn’t a feature; it’s a necessity when you’re dealing with real humans who deserve dignity and inclusiveness. This project became a benchmark for building with empathy at the core.

🗣️ Client Feedback

“This website brought tears to my eyes. It finally represents what we do. Our clients feel seen, and we’ve been getting inquiries from families who had never found a place like ours before.”
— Founder, Adaptive Exercise Group
